Air Charter Service celebrates ten years in Germany

The company’s Frankfurt office opened its doors in 2010 and has gone from strength to strength ever since. In 2018 the company opened a second German office at the airport, in order to expand its onboard courier team and offering and now ACS’s German operations employ more than 20 staff.

Caroline Werf has been the office’s managing director since 2015, and has been with the office for more than eight years. Werf commented: “This year has been very strange for our industry and the world as a whole. We have been fortunate enough to have experienced a good year business-wise so far – our revenue is currently 73% up on last year, which is incredible in the circumstances.”

Werf has seen many highlights over the years, citing a world record attempt that needed ACS’s help and two nightclub events in the sky as her top memories.

Werf said: “In 2015 an attempt to break the record entitled Cape to Cape 2.0 - this involved driving between Cape Agulhas in South Africa and Nordkapp (translated as North Cape) in Norway. The problem arose as they were unable to drive through Syria, so we chartered an aircraft to fly from Jordan to Turkey to bypass Syria. The governing body had already given special dispensation for them to do this. I was over the moon when they broke the record, reaching Nordkapp in 9 days, 4 hours, 9 minutes and 27 seconds!

“In both 2017 and 2018 we took ‘Europe’s biggest club night’ to the skies. Big City Beats’ ‘World Club Dome’ is a whole weekend of DJs playing to more than 120,000 clubbers over 20 different dancefloors in Frankfurt. But around 100 lucky guests begin the experience at more than thirty thousand feet on an Airbus A340 between London and Germany, directly before the main event takes place. The aircraft is configured in such a way that there is enough room for the decks, the sound system and for people to get up and dance.”

Justin Bowman, ACS’s Chief Executive added: “We decided to invest in the German market ten years ago and it has paid dividends ever since. We are positive about the further growth of the market, as we look to invest more into our German operations in the coming years. We look forward to another ten years of ACS in Germany and hope that the world will have gone back to normal by then.”
