The cargo charters that defined 2025
2025 was a strong year for Air Charter Service’s Cargo Division. Despite volatile demand and regional disruption, our teams kept relief, industrial and specialist cargo moving with speed and precision. Readiness, local expertise, and decisive coordination turned challenging conditions into consistent, high‑quality performance.
Market dynamics and disruptions
Demand patterns were volatile rather than steady. US tariff increases pushed importers to accelerate shipments, creating sharp peaks that required rapid aircraft sourcing, dynamic routing, and tight cost control for a number of customers across the globe.
Regional access issues added further complexity. The Thailand–Cambodia border closures disrupted established corridors and forced custom cross‑border solutions. Strong local partnerships and fast, on‑the‑ground decision‑making were often the difference between on‑time delivery and delay.
Weather remained a major operational driver:
- Hurricane Melissa triggered a multi‑flight relief operation into Jamaica, moving over 400 tonnes of essential cargo;
- Throughout the year, fires, floods, and extreme weather events kept our humanitarian teams busy around the world – operating in the region of 490 flights carrying food, water, shelter, generators, vehicles, and sanitation and hygiene kits.
These events highlighted the value of contingency planning, pre‑positioned supplier agreements and real‑time local intelligence. They also clarified two strategic priorities: improving predictive analytics for tariff and event signals, and expanding standing agreements to absorb sudden demand without compromising service.
Standout charters
Amid thousands of movements in 2025, a handful of charters stood out for their technical complexity, commercial significance and humanitarian impact – missions that captured the full breadth of what our teams can deliver under pressure.
A particularly memorable charter came from the US, where a wildlife rescue in North Carolina asked for help relocating an injured sea turtle to a permanent home in Minnesota. With strict welfare requirements – controlled heating, continuous moisture, and a handler positioned in the cargo bay – we sourced a Falcon 20F, coordinated specialist onboard care and oversaw loading on the day. The result: the transfer went swimmingly, delivering sea turtle Snooki safely to her new habitat. Click here to read more.
When a tech client needed five servers containing hazardous lithium batteries moved from Georgia to Alaska the same day, our Time Critical team stepped in. With no time to secure dangerous‑goods documentation for express freight, we repacked the units into individual cartons, sourced an onboard courier within minutes and fitted tracking devices to each piece. The consignment travelled as checked baggage on a passenger service and reached Anchorage within 11 hours – a rapid, regulatory‑compliant solution under intense time pressure. Entertainment logistics brought its own intensity as global tours locked in late‑year dates. When a freight forwarder supporting a country singer’s tour faced a last‑minute crisis when three tonnes of merchandise were delayed in California just hours before a show in Washington State. Monitoring aircraft movements in real time, our team identified a nearby turboprop capable of carrying a partial load, hand‑loaded 124 boxes for immediate departure and coordinated scheduled freight for the remainder. The result: a fully stocked merch stand and a promoter who avoided a costly show‑day shortfall. Click here to read more.
Our specialist and bespoke work remained a core strength, including the delivery of a 3,000‑kg electric vehicle from Houston to Dubai. We sourced a long‑range 777F already operating the preferred route, arranging ULD loading and high‑loader transfer, and supported customs clearance to meet the buyer’s tight delivery window – a textbook example of heavy‑lift precision on an intercontinental schedule. Beyond these headline missions, we handled a series of sensitive, high‑stakes movements – from horses and companion animals to a life‑saving transplant organ. Each one underscored the same principles – technical precision paired with regulatory, welfare and operational expertise.
Office growth and commercial momentum
Two new hubs – ACS Time Critical in Houston and a new cargo office in Barcelona – strengthened our regional footprint. Their locations within major trade and event corridors have helped response times, deepened relationships with carriers and authorities, and supported faster mobilisation for industrial, event and relief work.
Local teams are already delivering commercial gains, while our clients value direct regional coordination, faster lead times and reliable execution. For our humanitarian partners, these hubs help provide staging points for rapid deployment and local procurement.
Looking forward
2025 underscored the need for readiness, strong local networks and scalable capacity. Our focus remains on maintaining preparedness, expanding regional partnerships and investing in tools and agreements that support rapid surge response.
