Delivering humanitarian aid to Ukrainian refugees
A major humanitarian organisation needed our help transporting 240 tonnes of aid from Sudan to Ukrainian refugees in Poland. The departure airport in Sudan lacked the necessary equipment to load a wide-body cargo aircraft, so an alternative solution was needed to move the heavy shipment of high-energy biscuits. We got to work on a plan.
Our Solution
Route: Port Sudan > Rzeszów and Katowice
Aircraft: Airbus A340 P2F
With a large quantity of cargo to move and no main deck high loader available, we quickly looked into other options. Trucking the cargo to another airport would take too long, while the huge cost involved in chartering a ramp-loading aircraft would exceed our client’s budget.
Instead, our experts sourced a converted passenger airliner that could be loaded by hand, maximising capacity by utilising the lower deck and baggage hold in addition to the upper deck.
We arranged five flight rotations to move the aid – three deliveries to Rzeszow and two to Katowice. Our team liaised with a local agent in Sudan to secure permits for the charter and the entire shipment was delivered within days of the request coming in.

Cost-Effective Solution: Using a different aircraft and loading approach saved our client a significant amount of money compared to chartering a ramp-loading freighter.
