A Solar Eclipse
An international travel agent received an unusual request from a large group of adventurers in Asia seeking a specialised tour in order to see the countries first solar eclipse in nearly 33 years. The once in a lifetime opportunity would be best viewed in Ternate, a remote island in Indonesia which logistically was very difficult to get to.
With no direct flights available via scheduled services and with the only other scheduled option taking over 24 hours across three interconnecting flights, the agent required a direct and time saving solution. Due to the nature of the request two ACS offices worked on finding a solution. The London office focused on the airports, whilst our local office in Hong Kong sourced the aircraft and navigated the very strict aviation rules and regulations that govern Indonesia to obtain the variety of permits needed to fly.Several private jets were sourced that met the cost and timing requirements of the client and we were able to ensure the entire group of 130 passengers arrived with plenty of time to spare in order to get to the best possible viewing points. The return journey was scheduled swiftly after the event so they could get back to their main tour with little disruption but with an once-in-a-lifetime experience added.
