Private Jet Charters to the Masters Golf Tournament

If you’re a big golf fan, consider organizing private jet charters to the 2017 Masters Golf Tournament to watch golfing stars compete at the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.

If you manage to score tickets to the 2017 Masters, why not consider flying to Augusta by private jet? Each year, jet traffic quadruples during the Masters as spectators opt for the comfort and privacy of flying straight to Augusta by private jet. This can be an especially convenient and affordable option if you’re traveling in a group. Get a quote for private jet charters to start planning your luxury trip to this year’s Masters.

In 1932, golfing legend Bobby Jones decided to build his own private golf course. With the help of banker friend Clifford Roberts, he found a suitable 365-acre former plant nursery and hired architect Alister MacKenzie to help design his dream course. Jones officially opened the Augusta National Golf Course in 1933 and it’s now considered one of the most beautiful in the world. In 1934, the club hosted the first Augusta National Invitational Tournament, now known as The Masters, which was won by Horton Smith.

Today, the Masters is arguably the most famous golf championship and has developed its own unique traditions. The Tuesday before each Masters, a Champions Dinner is held for previous winners and on the first day of the tournament, a golfing star kicks off the action with an opening tee shot. There’s also a separate nine-hole Par 3 contest for past champions, current players, and honorary guests, who can invite their relatives to caddy for them. The most famous tradition is awarding the Green Jacket, which the champion can wear for a year before returning it to a special cloakroom in the clubhouse.

The 2017 Masters Schedule

The Masters is an invitational event, but previous champions and major competition winners automatically qualify. These include winners of the last five PGA Championships, U.S. Opens and British Opens, as well as the top 50 players in the official world golf rankings. The Masters has a relatively small field of around 100 players who compete over two practice and four tournament days. Competitors play in groups of three or four in the first two 18-hole rounds and then the field is narrowed down with a cut-off score for the weekend rounds.

Top competitors this year include the current world number one, US golfer Dustin Johnson, as well as the 2015 Masters champion and 2016 runner-up Jordan Spieth, and the reigning Masters champion Danny Willett. Other favorites include golfing stars Rory McIlroy, Jason Day, Hideki Matsuyama, and Justin Thomas. Here’s a look at the 2017 Masters Schedule:

  • Monday 3rd April: Practice round, gates open at 8am and close at 6.30pm.
  • Tuesday 4th April: Practice round, gates open at 8am and close at 6.30pm.
  • Wednesday 5th April: Practice round and Par 3 Contest. Gates open at 7.25am and close 30 minutes after play.
  • Thursday 6th April: Round one, gates open at 7.25am and close 30 minutes after play.
  • Friday 7th April: Round two, gates open at 7.30am and close 30 minutes after play.
  • Saturday 8th April: Round three, gates open at 8am and close 30 minutes after play.
  • Sunday 9th April: Round four, gates open at 8am and close 30 minutes after play and trophy presentation.

As well as the Green Jacket, Masters champions receive a share of the $10 million prize purse and a lifetime invitation to the Masters. They also receive automatic entry to the US Open, The Open Championship, and the PGA Championship for five years. The tournament also has a tradition of honoring amateur golfers and a silver cup is awarded to the lowest-scoring amateur player, while the amateur runner-up receives a silver medal.
